It is no secret that our world has changed over the course of the past five years when it comes to news, fake news and twitter! Now more than ever, our students need to be equipped with the necessary critical thinking skills in order to decipher news bias and media convergence. As a social studies teacher, it has never been a MORE exciting time to be teaching social studies. The trick is bridging the gap between what is necessary to teach (the program of studies) while engaging our students in skills that are required of them outside of the social studies classroom. This session is designed to target the Div 2/3 teacher who is looking for strategies that will engage learners in social studies classes!
