Needle arts can provide a mindfulness practice with scientifically proven cognitive benefits. Here's how to get started with cross-stitching. It's easy to learn, doesn't require too many supplies, and is a great outlet for creativity. Cross stitching is a great project for upper elementary, junior high or high school students and can be included in the Textile Arts module in Fashion Studies. Bring your own project or purchase a kit for $5 for a cross stitched greeting card, from the instructor.
