Assessment Within Instrumental Music

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Assessment is a necessary and challenging task for many instrumental music educators. Limited instructional time, little to no assessment training, subjectivity, difficulty in recording results and maintaining control of student behaviour while conducting assessments, parent and student apathy towards assessments in music class, and large class sizes are but a few of the often cited reasons for the current state of assessment in instrumental music. In this session we will discuss different forms of assessment that can be used within the music classroom and better practices we can employ to make all assessments authentic and student centered.
