Gender Identity

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

We will explore what it means to be transgender, non-binary, cisgendered, and gender diverse. How is sex assigned and how is that different from gender? What is intersex? How are gender expression and gender identity connected and different? Why are there so many terms? Most importantly, what does it all mean for me in my classroom? All teachers and staff are required to uphold the Safe and Caring Schools policy, the new Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity policy (EPSB), as well as new legislation (Bill 10) around inclusion of gender diversity in classrooms and schools. Additionally, what is Bill 8 and how are the changes going to affect my GSA/QSA? This session provides teachers with knowledge, inclusion practices, best practices, and a safe place to ask questions to better their understanding of inclusion of Gender Minorities within their teaching practices.
