Good Grief? How To Be Supportive To The Many Losses Students Face

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Teachers are the front line for dealing with students experiencing loss, but did anyone teach you how to support them? Who hasn't had a student who has moved from somewhere else, lost a pet, had divorced parents or lost a loved one? Unresolved grief can cause us to turn to short-term reliefs such as food, substances or even over-productivity. In this session, we will deconstruct the myths that surround grief in our society, make note of how people often cope and then look at ways to support students that actually helps them! Grief and loss is an uncomfortable topic, but one that will go a long way to helping students for years to come!
